Since 1997

Purport of its establishment

The town of Ami worked out the "International Exchange Promotion Plan" in 1995, in order to promote the building of a town suitable for an internationalized society. Since then, in light of this plan, it has implimented a lot of exchanges such as international exchange symposium, international friendship parties, foreign language classes, sports festivals and so on. At the same time, the Sister City Relationship Agreement was established between the City of Superior, Wisconsin, United States of America, and the Town of Ami. However, in order to promote the localized globalization, it became of urgent necessity to push the international exchanges forward by a new plan based on the needs of the citizens. In answer to this requirement, in 1997, the "Ami International Exchange Association", an organization mainly composed of citizens was established and since then, international exchanges have been carried out at the grass roots level towards the globalization of the town and its people.
